The MacArthur Foundation’s Behavioral Change Cohort has announced the upcoming Anti-Corruption Conference and Exhibition 2023, themed “Fostering a Corruption-Free Nigeria.” Set to take place on November 15th at D-Serene Exclusive Hotel in Abuja. The conference aims to provide a collaborative platform to address and mitigate the issue of corruption in Nigeria.
The event is expected to bring together experts, thought leaders, and stakeholders from various sectors, including public, private, and development, to strategise and explore sustainable development solutions while combating corruption.
Key guests and speakers scheduled to attend the conference include Oliver Stolpe, Country Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime; Kole Shettima, On-Nigeria Director at the MacArthur Foundation; and Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, outgoing ICPC Chairman, alongside international donors, development partners, and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
Dr. Kole Shettima of the MacArthur Foundation emphasised the foundation’s commitment to employing behavioral insights in spearheading Nigeria-led anti-corruption initiatives, showcasing the organisation’s effective approach in instigating positive change and contributing to the nation’s development goals.
Akin Fadeyi, founder of the Akin Fadeyi Foundation and a member of the organising committee, highlighted the significant contributions of various organisations and the pivotal role played by partners, especially the MacArthur Foundation, in advancing the objectives of anti-corruption programmes in Nigeria.
The conference is set to serve as an exhibition to showcase the impactful work achieved in the mission to combat corruption. Furthermore, Prof. Olatunde Babawale from the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN) emphasised the value of the conference as a strategic platform to rebuild Nigeria’s integrity in accordance with the National Ethics and Integrity Policy (NEIP), addressing the detrimental effects of corruption on national trust, development, and the nation’s future.
