Travelstart, an online travel agency, has refunded the sum of N746,836 to Olayemi Durotimi, a customer whose flight was canceled in December 2021 after booking through the company.
Durotimi told FIJ that she received the money from the agency on Friday.
FIJ had reported how the travel agency refused to refund the UK-based Nigerian after she cancelled the flight she booked for her family and herself in December 2021.
Durotimi said she received a call from Travelstart after FIJ’s report on May 8.
“I was losing hope that I’d never get a refund until I requested help from FIJ,” Durotimi said.
“Today, Travelstart has done the needful and has credited my account. I am really happy that FIJ stepped in and expedited the conversation between Travelstart and me.”
Durosimi also said she was surprised FIJ could bring an agency like Travelstart to refund her, despite several attempts she had made.
“In a clime where the consumer’s voice is hardly heard, the trust gap between consumers and service providers is widening. FIJ is bridging that gap,” Durotimi said.
