World Radio Day, which falls on 13th February every year, is a global event that celebrates the power and impact of radio as a medium of communication, information, and education. This year, the theme of the event is “Radio: A century of informing, entertaining, and educating”.

To mark this occasion, Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security has partnered with KanemPress Digital Hub and Borno Radio Listeners Association to organize a series of activities and programs that highlight the role of radio in promoting peace, development, and positive values in the North-East and Lake Chad region.

KanemPress Digital Hub is a media platform that aims to provide accurate, reliable, and balanced news and analysis on the issues and challenges facing the region, as well as to showcase the achievements and potentials of its people. It also conducts various initiatives and interventions to foster peace-building, conflict resolution, and social cohesion among the diverse communities in the region.

The joint celebration of World Radio Day will take place at the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. The event will feature workshops on content creation and delivery, ethical journalism, safety and security awareness, and audience engagement.

It will also include keynote addresses by prominent stakeholders and experts, such as the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof Usman Tar; the Publisher of KanemPress Digital Hub, Zannah Ibrahim Mustapha; and other renowned academics and on-air personalities, such as Prof Khalifa Ali Dikwa, Prof Muhammad Muazu, and Prof Ibrahim Umara.

The event aims to showcase the achievements and challenges of radio broadcasting in the region, as well as to explore the opportunities and innovations that radio can offer in the 21st century. It also hopes to inspire and empower radio listeners, producers, and practitioners to use radio as a tool for positive change and social transformation.
