Claims: There is a trending video circulating on the social media platforms and other international media space in what seems like a panel of inquiry where the respondent claimed that one time world richest man and Microsoft founder, Bill Gates plan to use ‘systemic molecules’ to decimate the population of Africa.

Full Text: The claim is trending online where the main subject in the video said, ‘For the purpose of sterilisation and population control, there’s too many people on the planet we need to get rid of. In the words of Bill Gates, at least three billion people need to die.’

‘So we will just start off in Africa. We will start doing our research there and will eliminate most of the Africans because they are deplorable, they are worthless. They are not part of this world economies. Their rights are taken away and suppress and experimented on.’

Verification: A quick online search reveals the identity of the claimant as Dr Robert O. Young, an American naturopathic practitioner and author of alternative medicine books promoting an alkaline diet.

PRNigeria Fact-check Desk then broke the video into keyframes and ran a reverse image search where results revealed the more than 90mins full length video first surfaced on 20 November, 2019 where Dr Young made the allegation during his deposition witness at the International Tribunal for Natural Justice (ITNJ) – a group that holds unsanctioned hearings on subjects ranging from child trafficking, vaccines, coronavirus and to the alleged effects of 5G.

On its website, ITNJ, founded by Sacha Stone, a former rock musician and artist in 2015, said it belonged to the people and was not controlled by any nation, state, corporation, or ‘special interests.’

The video resurfaced again in 2021 amidst African countries’ drive to acquire vaccine for their population against the coronavirus. The video is currently circulating in Nigeria, and  some other African countries where it came to the fore again.

Various toggled keyword search terms was used to find out where Bill Gates actually made the claim being attributed to him by Young but there was no results. PRNigeria Fact-check desk found out that the quote by Young appears to be a misrepresentation of a 2010 Ted Talk Conference, ‘Innovating to zero,’ where Bill Gates discussed ways the world could reduce carbon emissions, vaccines and healthcare.

In the course of verifying the accuracy of his, claims, PRNigeria fact-check team discovered that Dr Young had played dirty in the past, especially with his unsubstantiated claims about having cure for some terminal illnesses.

Further findings revealed that most international media organisations had already discredited his claims about Bill Gates and some quadrillion dollar enterprise wanting to depopulate Africans. Prominent among them is Reuters.

PRNigeria fact-check, also discovered that the France 24 Observers also disconfirmed Young accusation.

Young is currently facing a four counts of practicing medicine without a license and elder abuse

Conclusion: PRNigeria fact-check findings revealed that Dr Young is not a licensed medical practitioner and had during his deposition at the International Tribunal for Natural Justice (ITNJ) quoted Bill Gates out of context.

PRNigeria therefore concludes that the claim by Dr Roberts Young about Bill Gates planning to decimate the population of over 3 billion Africans is unsubstantiated.
