Bolt Nigeria, a top e-hailing company, has told Oluwaseun Oti, an entrepreneur who lost close to N128,700 to a Bolt Driver, that it cannot reach its driver or offer any serious help towards retrieving the money.
Oti, an entrepreneur based in Lagos, had erroneously paid Saheed Olumegbon, the bolt driver, N130,000 for a short trip instead of N1,300 on Thursday. Oti cried out on Twitter after trying to get Bolt’s attention for several hours. Although the company responded to Oti’s tweet on Thursday evening, it did not communicate with him until Friday morning.
The aggrieved customer revealed that Bolt finally told him on Friday to direct his complaints to the Nigeria Police Force. The e-hailing company called Oti on phone to let him know that they could not contact Olumegbon anymore, thus advising him to reach out to the police instead.
“I’m tweeting to let you guys know that @bolt@Boltapp_ng contacted me this morning via call that they are not able to reach the guy and I’m free to contact the Nigeria police,” Oti tweeted on Friday.
Bolt’s phone-call advice was given to Oti about 24 hours after Olumegbon had fled with his N130,000.
Oti is now left to deal with the police alone, even though the culprit worked for Bolt some hours ago. And this is despite Bolt telling Oti it takes issues like this seriously on Thursday.
“We take issues like this seriously,” Bolt tweeted at him on Thursday. “We have received your report and we have started investigations into this. A member of our team will contact you.”
FIJ, meanwhile, can confirm that Olumegbon is currently hiding somewhere in Ifo, Ogun State.
