Following WikkiTimes’ investigation into failed and unexecuted road projects in Plateau and Taraba States, Alheri Community Development and Support Initiative (ACDSI) has called on the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to further probe the menace.

WikkiTimes’ revealed how billions of naira amassed from Nigerian taxpayers’ money meant for road construction were looted 15 years after funds were released.

The projects include Gembu-Serti road in Taraba State; Panyam-Bokkos-Wamba road; Babban Lamba-Lanshi-Sharam road; Pankshin-Tapshin-Gindiri road; and maintenance of the Shandam Namu-Pandam roads in Plateau State.

As contained in a statement signed by the ACDSI PRO, Bashir Usman, the initiative while demanding a probe, condemned the embezzlement of the funds, saying “the supposed President Buhari-led anti-corruption crusade must be seen to be working for the betterment of the country where it fails to deliver, it does so at the peril of the future of the country.”

“We, therefore, demand the EFCC and ICPC to probe the alleged mismanagement, misappropriation and embezzlement of public funds in the said failed and unexecuted road constructions and rehabilitation projects,” reads the statement. “These bodies must expedite their actions to earn the trust and confidence of Nigerians. We will maintain a cursory look until the right thing is done.”
