Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism in collaboration with Albarka 89.9 FM, Ganmo, Kwara State on Wednesday 6th of December, organised a one-day sensitisation programme on community development in the state.
The participants, drawn from various communities and representatives of the People with Disabilities (PWDs) in the state were sensitised on the role of the community and government in community development.
The programme funded by the MacArthur Foundation was held at the City-In-Hotel, G.R.A Ilorin.
Participants were sensitised on the importance of knowing their representatives and frequent engagement with them on community needs.
Speaking at the event a public analyst Comrade Lanre Osho, charged the participants on the need for the people to identify various issues that need to be addressed and also engage politicians to facilitate such a project.
He further encouraged the residents to be educated on governance, and familiarise themselves with the budget and other societal developments.
